Options for Doctors in Tamil Nadu Medical Service and NEET
-oOo-
Update : Rules have been changed this year. We will post the modifications ASAP. The following are based on Previous Rules
-oOo-
For easy discussion, we have divided the doctors in Tamil Nadu Medical Services into three groups
Group 1 : Postgraduates who are eligible for Service Quota in TNPG 2013
- They can take seat in TN Government Medical College through NEET
- They have to be relieved through proper channel, and they will be admitted as Service PG
- They have to execute the bond like other Service PGs selected through TNPG
- After their LPC and SR Reaches the new institution, they will be paid salary (Pay + DA)
- Their service seniority will be maintained
- After Completion of PG Course, they will attend the counselling along with other Service candidate
Summary : This Group has only one possibility in NEET. So No need for confusion
Group 2 : Postgraduates who are not eligible for Service Quota in TNPG and have no contractual obligations
Eg
- 1. Not yet completed 2 years
- 2. Joined in 10 A 1, completed 2 years, not yet selected by TNPSC
- 3. Completed the bond period and continuing in Service, not yet selected by TNPSC
- They can take seat in TN Government Medical College through NEET
- They have to try to get relieved through proper channel
- They have to Join as Private Candidate and they do not need LPC, SR
- They have to Execute the bond as Private Candidates
- They will be paid Stipend as per this rate
- After completion of PG, they will have to work again in Post PG Bond
- They will be eligible for DM MCh only 3 years later, not immediately (in other words, the service they have so far put is of no use)
It is for them to decide whether to take a seat and loose the benefits of their hard work till date
or
Wait for next year and take seat after being eligible for Service Quota
This may help those who are joining MD / MS
MD / MS as Private candidate in 2013
- Complete MD / MS in 2016
- Work in Post PG Service
- Eligible for DM / MCh in 2019
- Complete DM / MCh in 2022
MD / MS as Service Candidate in 2014
- Complete MD / MS in 2017
- Eligible for DM / MCh in 2017
- Complete DM / MCh in 2020
This may help those who are joining Diploma
Diploma as Private Candidate in 2013
- Complete Diploma in 2015
- Post PG Service
- Eligible for Masters in 2017
- Complete Masters in same speciality in 2019 or Masters in Different Speciality in 2020
Diploma as Service Candidate in 2013
- Complete Diploma in 2015
- Eligible for Masters in 2015
- Complete 2 Masters in same speciality in 2017 or Masters in Different Speciality in 2018
Summary : So this group has to decide accordingly. It is their decision based on individual’s family situation
Group 3 : Those who have contractual obligations
- Those who are in Post PG Bond come under this group
- They cannot take a seat in NEET or TNPG, unless they pay the bond amount
Summary : No Confusion
