NAGPUR: The much-awaited form submission for the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) 2012 has started and will continue till January 25, without late fees. This exam is being conducted due to the controversial National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) being deferred by a year.
The exam conducting body, CBSE, then decided to immediately start preparations for the AIPMT on the same basis as it was held last year. This means that the syllabus, pattern and eligibility conditions for this year’s exam will remain the same as AIPMT-2012.
There is however a slight change in the application procedure with regards to the form. Candidates can only apply online by logging on to www.aipmt.nic.in and accessing the application form. Payment for applicable fees can be done online or offline through a demand draft drawn on any nationalized bank.
If they miss the application deadline, candidates can again submit forms from January 26-February 8 with a late fee of Rs 500. Another window of opportunity to submit the application with a late fee of Rs1000 will be from February 9-February 24.
Candidates have been urged by the authorities to clarify their doubts by calling up AIPMT at 011-22509256, 57, 58, 59 and 011-22059683. The other alternative for candidates is to visit their nearest facilitation centre where advice will be given free of cost.
In Nagpur there are three facilitation centres at Centre Point School (Wardhaman Nagar), Bhavans (Civil Lines) and Modern School (Koradi Road).
The preliminary exam will be held on April 1, 2012 and consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions from physics, chemistry and biology (PCB). The duration of the paper will be of three hours.
The final exam for those who qualify will be held on May 13 and will consist of one paper with 120 objective type questions from PCB. Though the number of questions is less, the duration of paper would remain three hours. Candidates are advised to use only ballpoint pens during the exams.
