MBBS BDS 2004 Merit list : Medical, Dental courses in Tamil Nadu

The Directorate of Medical Education today released the merit list for admission to medical and dental courses for 2004-05. Counselling begins on June 24.The Engineering branch topper Satchi A. Surendran from Erode has once again emerged on top of the list in the medical stream, with a score of 299.64. Surendran is followed by S.S. Parthiban of SRV Higher Secondary School, Rasipuram, who scored 299.55. A. Rajkumar of St.Michael’s Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, came third with a score of 299.19.
A total of 12,783 candidates applied for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. Of them, 4.73 per cent candidates were found ineligible. The first phase of counselling for the successful candidates will be conducted at the office of the Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Kilpauk here, beginning Thursday.
Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of merit and will be allotted seats of their choice, subject to availability of seats and colleges, following the rule of reservation. Individual call letters will be sent to the candidates. Those who do not receive call letters, can attend counselling as per the schedule indicated in newspapers and on the web site, with all original certificates.
The following is the schedule announced by the Directorate of Medical Education:
June 24: Open competition from rank G 001 to G 100 (marks: 299.64 to 297.23) at 9 a.m.; Rank G101 to G211(marks: 297.20 to 296.70) at noon; Rank G212 to G304 (marks: 304 to 296.28) at 2 p.m.
June 25: BC candidates from rank C242 to C343 (marks: 296.28 to 295.85) at 9 a.m.; Rank C 344 to C444 (marks: 295.84 to 295.47) at noon; Rank C445 to C543 (marks 295.46 to 295.07) at 2 p.m.
June 26: MBC candidates from rank C36 to C136 (marks: 296.21 to 294.45) at 9 a.m.; Rank C137 to C235 (marks: 294.42 to 293.25) at 2 p.m. June 27: SC and ST candidates from rank C004 to C104 (marks: 296.21 to 291.59) at 9 a.m.; Rank C105 to C184 (marks 291.57 to 289.21) at 11.30 a.m.; Rank C001 to C010 (marks 291.61 to 277.14) at noon.
Students in the special categories, such as children of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and physically handicapped candidates will undergo counselling on June 29 at 11 a.m.
Candidates will have to be present one hour in advance of the time specified for their counselling. Those whose marks are revised in re-totalling/ re-evaluation are permitted to attend the counselling as per the counselling schedule with proper evidence. They are eligible only for the vacancies available at the time of counselling.
