I. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Fill in the Application form carefully and legibly.
2. Applications which are incomplete and received after the last date i.e on
12.10.2009 5.00 P.M are liable for rejection. Application should be in the
candidates’ own handwriting. Selection Committee will not be responsible for
postal delays.
3. All enclosures prescribed should be xeroxed copies duly attested by a Gazetted Officer only and not originals .
4. Cutting, Over-writing and Erasing in the application form and in the Scrutiny Form should be avoided.
5. The duration of the Postgraduate M.Sc.(Medical Physics) course shall
be 3 Years including one year compulsory residency training.
6. Allotment of seats will be done by counselling based on merit following the rule of reservation in force in the State of Tamil Nadu and as per all other terms and conditions contained in the Government Order issued and to be issued from time to time with regard to rule of reservation.
7. The candidates who are are selected at the time of counselling shall pay the tuition fee in total prescribed in clause VII by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10 payable at Chennai at the time of receipt of the allotment orders. After the receipt of the joining report from the Director, Regional Cancer Centre, Karapettai, Kancheepuram, this amount will be transferred to the Institution. This fee is not refundable.
8. The candidates selected for Post Gradudate M.Sc.,(Medical Physics) course have to remit a non-refundable amount of Rs.500/- by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Secretary, Selection Committee as processing fee for allotment of seats.
9. The Government Orders issued and to be issued from time to time pertaining to any of the matters contained in the prospectus should be read as part and parcel of this prospectus and such terms and conditions in the Government Order are deemed to have been incorporated in this prospectus.
II. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1. Candidates seeking admission to the Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) Course should be citizens of India and natives of Tamil Nadu.
2. Admission to Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) Course is open to both men and women candidates.
3. Candidates should possess a B.Sc.Physics Degree with Mathematics as
ancillary subject. Candidates who have qualified from recognized Universities
in Tamilnadu are only eligible.
4. OC and BC candidates seeking admission to the Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) course should have obtained not less than 60 % in the total aggregate marks obtained in all semesters taken together in the B.Sc., (Physics) Degree Course. (55 % for MBC/ DNC candidates and 50%for SC/ST candidates) In case of failure (s) the pass marks in the subsequent attempt(s) shall be taken for calculation purpose. Number of attempts are not considered for calculation of marks.
III. MERIT LIST:
1.
A common Merit List for the Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) course will be prepared by computing of academic marks for 100.
2.
The Secretary, Selection Committee will publish the merit list at the Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Eduation, Kilpauk, Chennai-10 and the same will be available in the website http://www.tnhealth.org. / www.tn.gov.in. The candidates are advised to visit the website everyday from the date of issue of application for information.

The candidates will be called for counselling as per their merit and they may exercise their option as per the eligibility norms mentioned in the prospectus, availability of seats and communal reservation in force.
IV. PROCEDURE FOR FILLING THE APPLICATION:-
1. Candidates seeking admission to Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) course are required to send their applications in the prescribed form along with the prospectus which shall be downloaded from the websites www.tn.health.org and www.tn.gov.in and send their application along with a demand draft for Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One thousand only) from any Nationalised Bank and drawn in favour of the “Secretary, Selection Committee” payable at Chennai.
2. Only those who are natives of Tamil Nadu can apply to undergo Postgraduate M.Sc. (Medical Physics) course and the candidates must furnish a Nativity Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the format enclosed with this form. However those who have studied from 11 th standard onwards and undergone their UG course for a minimum period of 3 years in Tamil Nadu need not furnish the Nativity Ceritificate but have to give proof for their study period in Tamil Nadu and also furnish a declaration that they are not claiming

Nativity in any other State except in Tamil Nadu which is to be signed by either the parent or guardian and the candidate.
3. Candidates shall ensure that completed application form with all particulars and enclosures reaches the Selection Committee within the date and time specified. Applications received by Speed Post/Courier/any other means after last date and time could not be accepted irrespective of date of booking.

Candidates must enclose only attested xerox copies (not originals) of the
following documents in the order indicated below along with the application,
failing which the application is liable for rejection.
i)
B.Sc., (Physics) course completion certificate from the College where the candidate had undergone the course.
ii)
B.Sc., (Physics) Degree Certificate or provisional pass certificate from the University concerned to which the college is affiliated.
iii)
First year to final year/semester B.Sc.(Physics) Mark sheets issued by the University concerned.
iv)
Valid Community Certificate issued by the competent authority with Office Seal
v)
Birth Certificate or copy of H.Sc., Certificate / School Leaving Certificate / College Leaving Certificate / Extract from Service Register as evidence for Date of Birth.
vi)
Attempt Certificate in Final Year B.Sc.(Physics) course from the College/University concerned.

The Selection Committee bears no responsibility for delayed receipt or loss in transit on any grounds beyond the specified date and time. Applications received after 12.10.2009 , 5 P.M are liable for rejection without any intimation to the candidate.

Incomplete applications or applications without required enclosures are liable for rejection without any intimation to the candidates.
V. METHOD OF SELECTION AND ADMISSION:-
1. The merit list for admission of candidates for Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) Course will be made on the basis of total marks obtained by the eligible candidates in all the semester examinations of B.Sc., (Physics) put together which is reduced to the base of 100 marks .
2. CALCULATION OF ACADEMIC MARKS :-
The total marks obtained must be reduced to the base of 100 marks and the weighted total aggregate marks obtained should be calculated accurate to two decimals. The academic marks is arrived at as shown below:-

ii) In the case of candidates who have furnished the mark sheets only in grades, they should furnish the actual marks obtained from the university. If not, only the minimum marks of the grade will be considered.
3. DETERMINATION OF INTER-SE-MERIT
In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks out of total aggregate of 100 marks, the inter-se-merit of such candidates shall be determined on the basis of the following order of preference.
a.
Least number of appearance in the final Semester of B.Sc., (Physics) Examination.
b.
Total marks obtained in the final semester examination of B.Sc., (Physics) course.
c.
Seniority in age will be given preference.

VI. COUNSELLING
i.
Admission to Postgraduate M.Sc. (Medical Physics) course shall be made by counselling on the basis of merit applying the various rules of reservation in force wherever applicable.
ii.
Candidates who are absent at the time of counselling without a valid reason for absence will not be considered for admission. However, the Selection Committee reserves the right to permit the candidate to attend the counselling later, if a valid reason for absence is communicated to the Selection Committee before the commencement of the counselling. The candidate so permitted can only claim the course and college available at the time of counselling when he/she actually attends.
iii.
Please do not wait for counselling information to be received by Post. All information including the date of counselling will be putup in the website. Candidates will be permitted for counselling accordingly. Postal delay may lead to your nonappearance on the notified date and time.
VII. FEES PAYABLE AFTER ADMISSION
1. Tuition fee – Rs.20,000/-
2. Special fees and other fees are to be paid at the time of admission in the
Institution.
VIII. HEPATITIS – B VACCINATION
All the Selected candidates for admission to the various Postgraduate M.Sc., (Medical Physics) Degree course for 2009 – 2010 session should take Hepatitis – B vaccination and submit a medical certificate from an authorized Medical Officer as proof thereof, to the Head of the Institution at the time of joining. Admission to any postgraduate course will not be allowed by the Heads of Institutions without the medical certificate. The candidate should take further doses at the prescribed intervals as required.
IX. COMMUNICATION:
a.
All intimation for communication to the candidates will be sent only to the mailing address given by the candidate in the application. The Intimation / Call Letters will either be sent by Certificate of Posting or Registered Post or Speed Post or Courier Service or Telegram whichever is applicable. Selection Committee will not be held responsible for the Postal Delay.
b.
Candidates should inform the change of address, change of postings etc., immediately to the Selection Committee. If the change of address is not intimated to the Selection Committee in time, the Selection Committee will not be responsible for delay in 6
communication . The merit list will be published in the Web Site www.tnhealth.org & www.tn.gov.in. as well as the Selection Committee Office notice board
X.
The candidates who join M.Sc. (Medical Physics) Degree Courses should not indulge in any kind of agitation /strike /ragging activity inside / outside the college campus during the course of study. Candidates found to be taking part in any such activities mentioned above will be expelled from the course/college, at any point during the course of study and criminal action will be taken against them

Any foreign national irrespective of the period of study in the State will not become eligible to apply for this course. No certificate of Nativity in the State of Tamilanadu, should therefore be issued to Nationals of other countries for this purpose.

The Certificate should bear the stamp of the office of the Officer signing the Certificate. The certifying officers should insist upon clear proof of the Nativity of the Parent or Guardian of the candidate and satify themselves on the genuineness of the residential qualification.
